Important guidelines to consider when you are opting for hiking Kilimanjaro!

When you have made plans to go for hiking Kilimanjaro it is extremely important that you follow certain points so that your entire adventure becomes a success. Following are certain guidelines that you need to follow:

Keep your list ready. In this list mention all the things that you need to carry on your trip. Don’t keep anything pending or for the last minute because there are high chances that you will forget it.  Include everything that you will need as well as things that you might need. Don’t forget to carry extra set of batteries as well as an extra heavy flashlight.

Carry your backpack. Whether you are buying one or borrowing it from someone else make sure that you adjust it to your body so that at no point of time you feel that the bag is hanging lose and is without a proper grip. Make the proper use of the shoulder straps.
When you are climbing Mount Kilimanjaro the only thing that can hold you back from making the necessary stride is the unnecessary weight of your backpack. If your bag is heavy you will feel a pull on the backward direction when you are trying to move ahead. Hence you need to pack wisely and carry only those food items that are light weight and are in waterproof pouches. Make sure that the items are rich in protein and salt because when you are trekking you are bound to perspire and lose vital salts from your body, hence it is essential that you have a regular intake of food items that will restore the salt balance in your body. For example: pasta, macaroni, cheese apple, raisins, dried fruits are great to carry along with you.

Select your sleeping bag wisely. It should be made out of a material that can withstand the harshest of weather and changes in climatic conditions so that you remain warm. It often happens that at high altitudes it is not possible to get proper accommodations. In such a situation, the sleeping bag is of vital importance.

 Have a clear idea of the trek route that you are going to take. Mark out the distance in areas where you will get water and accordingly pack your water bottles. Whenever you are refilling your bottles again make sure to use water purification tablets in order to get rid of any germs that might be present. Just because the water is looking crystal clear does not mean that it is pure. So it is best to take proper measures as and when you can.

When you are going for hiking Mount Kilimanjaro it si vital and important that you wear what you are comfortable in. Just make sure that you take into account the temperature of the area. Don’t forget to wear the right kind of trekking shoes so that your grip is just right and you don’t lose your footing. Whatever you do don’t wear cotton socks as they don’t dry out easily and there is little insulation resulting in blisters.

Once you follow the above mentioned guidelines you are all ready and set to begin your trekking.
